Chief Chretien was asked to be an honored guest at the 4th Annual Gathering of the Acadian-Metis Mikmaq on Oct. 25 in Washington, LA.
This ceremony will be held indoors inside of a de-sanctified Episcopalian Church that was donated to the Garden Club. It was gifted to the Acadian-Metis Mikmaq to use as a meeting place as long as there is a need. There is sufficient property available to hold the Sacred Fire.
Christine Guidry Law of the Metis Mikmaq tribe is hoping that the two tribes (hers and the Atakapas) can become better acquainted by inviting Chief Chretien to come as an honored guest.
“We as Metis & Mikmaq have a saying, M’sit No’kmaq which means All My People - We are all related,” she said.
The tribe will gather to celebrate the harvest of Mother Earth as well as the Harvest and Blessings of their people’s ancestry. The invitation was extended to Chief Chretien and members of the Atakapa-Ishak tribe.
