Aliyajah Jude Papillion was the first recipient of the Atakapa-Ishak tribe’s annual scholarship. Papillion, is the son of shaman, Shawn Papillion. The yearly award will be given to members of the tribe that are graduating high-school seniors. Further criteria is being worked out for 2017 recipients.
