K’we my friend,I want to again personally thank you for your kind presence at yesterday’s ceremony. It was very special and meant a lot to me that you and Shawn traveled from so far to support us. I hope that we can keep in touch because I feel that we are kindred spirits - especially in the need to educate our people and to hand it down to the children. It really touched my twins to have you there. I know you did not get a chance to spend much time with them as we are always so bombarded at these events with everyone wanting to speak with us but I want you to know that your presence touched them deeply.I know that we shall have a lifelong friendship and will share and learn much from one another. I too felt very moved by the reuniting of our people once more. We are family - all related. You are now my “uncle” Edward and I love you as a very special friend. If you need me for anything, I am here. I am only a phone call away!I also want to thank you for being so kind to Ms. Clara and for taking her under your wing so to speak. She is so very dear to me and such a precious treasure to our people and they do not even realize it yet. She still has much to learn about our Mikmaq ways, customs, traditions but she has so generously given of her gift of grandmotherly advice and support and encouragement, as well as her precious gift of sewing and creating!I was so happy to be sure that she got your beads from the blanket! I knew that I would be going last and I wanted her to know that they were there because I felt so strongly she should be the one to have them. I knew how much it would mean to her. I placed them around her neck and she teared up. When the Great Spirit speaks a message to your heart - to the core of your being - you have to answer. You have no idea how precious you are to her!I want you to also know that I am praying for the continued progress of your mother’s health! May the Creator God bless and keep you and yours until we meet again!Next time we will travel to you!Wela’linChristine
Big Thanks to the Chief
