The Atakapa-Ishak tribe was contacted by Adam Hochfeld, the director of central casting in New Orleans, to participate in an upcoming movie. Hockfeld is looking to fill the roles of the indigenous Bolivians with Native Americans.
“We will be needing to hire a lot of people from the tribal community for non-speaking background roles as well as speaking roles,” Hochfeld said. The casting process consists of holding open calls to register as many tribal members that would be interested in being in the movie. It involves a full day of registering people of all ages and taking their pictures for a database. The casting group is particularly looking for the age range of 40-70.
Anyone that is booked to work any days in the movie will be paid. General background pays $8 per hour and everyone is guaranteed 10 hour’s worth of pay, even if they work less. Interested parties must be able to get to the greater New Orleans area on their own for any of the work dates.
