Saturday, August 17, 2013, Meeting, 10:00 am
Chief Chretien and our council members had the pleasure of meeting Tiffany M. Garrick and Angel S. Harris. They are the founders of Stage Presents Theatre LLC. where they share their gifts of the arts. Ms. Garrick received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Southern University and A & M College. She was magna cum laude when graduating from Southern University Law Center. She has acted in plays since childhood and has co-directed Stage Presents Theatre’s production of Pearl Cleage’s Blues for an Alabama Sky. Ms. Harris is originally from Rochester, New York. She graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. graduating summa cum laude. She also served as the co-director of Cleage’s Blues for an Alabama Sky.
Ms. Harris and Ms. Garrick are both attorneys and deal in the multicultural aspects of art in Louisiana, and are interested in doing a play based on Native American history. They would like to learn about the differences and views of our Native American culture as Atakapas. They have also expressed an interest in learning about the stories of our people that were passed down from generation to generation and visiting with those still living and practicing the old customs. They hope to build a continuous relationship with us and our people.
We are interested in keeping a roster of all of our Native American artists, musicians, craftsmen and midwives, medicine men, story tellers and more. For more information, contact Eagle Band Council member Gwendolyn Berry at [email protected].
