Shaman of Atakapa-Ishak Tribe Co-authors Text Book Chapter about Native Americans

Shawn Papillion, Shaman on the Atakapa-Ishak Nation of SE Texas and SW
Louisiana, the People of the Sunrise and Sunset, has received
confirmation that his submissions to the anthropology department of the
University of Oklahoma will be used in the publishing of a text book on
Native American Tribes of the Mississippi River Regions. The book is set to go to
print by the end of the year. Papillion co-authored a chapter on the tribe’s
creation story detailing comparative similarities of concepts found in the “our
culture as well as established mainstream cultures,” Papillion said. This body of work will be
studied by linguistic and anthropology students alike.
